About ICDA

The International Confederation of Dietetic Associations (ICDA) is an organization of national associations of Dietitians and Nutritionists. With a national dietetic association member in over 40 countries, ICDA is widely recognized as the international organization for nutrition and dietetics professionals. The national associations that belong to ICDA represent about 160,000 Dietitians and Nutritionists around the world.

About AFDA

The Asian Federation of Dietetics Associations (AFDA) was formed in 1990 as a means to support and advance the profession of dietetics in Asia. The activities conducted by the AFDA conform to the objectives of the ICDA, such as studies related to the education and work of dietitians and nutritionists, and raising the standards of education and the profile of dietitians and nutritionists in the region.

The Asian Federation of Dietetic Associations hosts a congress every four years, providing more opportunities, between the International Congress of Dietetics, for dietitians and nutritionists to exchange knowledge and perspectives about dietetics education and practice and providing a venue for AFDA representatives to meet with leaders of the dietetics profession in Asia.

About the Asian Congress of Dietetics

The Asian Congress of Dietetics (ACD) is organized every 4 years by the Asian Federation of Dietetic Associations (AFDA). The first ACD was held in Indonesia in 1994, followed by Korea (1998), Malaysia (2002), Philippines (2006), Thailand (2011) and Taiwan (2014). Following the previous ACD held in Hong Kong in 2018, the ACD2022 was held in Japan hosted by the JDA in August 2022.

ACD2022 was held as an in-person conference

The 8th Asian Congress of Dietetics (ACD2022) was held at Pacifico Yokohama in Yokohama city, Japan, from 19-21 August 2022. The theme of ACD2022 was "Realizing a sustainable healthy society for a bright future in Asia: Responding to modern problems and confusion in nutrition information". The conference brought together 1,137 dietitians, nutritionists and other professionals from Japan and other 17 Asian countries to discuss nutrition challenges, measures and policies in their respective countries through 23 lectures, symposium and workshops, and 272 poster presentations.

Signing on the Yokohama Declaration

As an outcome of the congress, the 'Yokohama Declaration' was announced and signed on the stage of the closing ceremony by the representatives of each country.
